Ro Roy Walker
Roy stood at the edge of the waves. The ocean crashed against the shore in a peaceful ebb and flow. The sound of seagulls squawking in the sky was almost melodic. Hawaii was awesome. There was surf, sand and all the beautiful babes you could handle. Roy could handle more than most. He was an expert at balancing the books and keeping his many side girlfriends from accidentally discovering one another.
At the current moment he had two little ladies dangling on the line. Running his hand through his hair he couldn't help but smile. He was awfully fucking proud of himself. Neither one of them knew about the other and the word exclusive was never tossed around in any relationship Roy was involved in. That was a four letter word. The very word tasted sour on his tongue. Why settle down when you could play the field? And the grass was so lovely. Roy loved the filed.
He had moved to Hawaii a few years ago. The tourist destination of all destinations. Everyone wanted to come see the crystal clear waters and experience the life of a native. Roy wasn't a native. He was a poser. A big fat stinking poser. Though he did live here, he was a surf instructor on the beach of Paulaninoua. "I'm sorry babe....We just can't keep this up. We had a good run." He told the skinny blonde. "But why? I know we've only known each other three days but I think I'm falling for you Steve." Roy had given her a fake name as well, what a card.
Roy sighed. "That's the problem babe. My heart is a wild ocean. It can't be tamed. The sea is my one great love. Catching that one wave and riding it into greatness." She frowned. "You're talking about surfing right now? Seriously?" Roy shrugged. "No, not really but I can't think of another way to say that I wanna be single baby." He smiled at her and he could just tell she was ready to blow her top.... He silenced her with a finger to her lips. Her eyes shot wide open as if she couldn't believe his arrogant nerve. "I was never yours Sandy. I'm not a one woman guy." She smacked his hand away. "My name is Nancy you ass!" She said and stormed away.
Roy watched her leave rubbing the back of his head. "My bad bruh...I'll give you free surf lessons if you ever find yourself in Hawaii again!" He called after her. The damage was done, but at least it was a clean break. She had gotten a little too 'girlfriend' for his liking. Now he had to call Sandy and break it off with her too. She was another tourist to the islands but she was talking about moving here after spending a week with Roy on her vacation. He had to nip that shit in the bud real quick.
Roy dialed her number and ran his hand through his wet hair again. His rippling abs glistening in the sun from the water dripping from his sculpted body. His board shorts were wet as he had just gotten out of the water, but he was already in his green and black flip flops. It's ringing. He thought. "Heeeey…. I was just thinking about you handsome." She answered. "Uh...Sandy I think we need to break up." Roy said sheepishly. He could hear her starting to cry already. "But...What the fuck did I do wrong Roy?!?" She asked. Roy was about to answer when he saw a tall dark and very mysterious woman walk by. She had curves that every woman would want.
She had that milk body. Good for a bone and did everybody good! Roy was speechless. He wasn't even listening to the crying hysterical girl on the other end of his flip phone. "Roy! Roy! Why are you breaking up with me?!?!? Answer me damn it!" She demanded. Roy began to stammer. Not because he was flustered but because Emberly's beauty had him tongue tied. "Uh.... I'm gay." He said and hung up the phone. Slipping it into his pocket he hustled on over to the girl on the beach. "Heeeey how you doing Beeeeeeautiful…" He said giving her a eyebrow wiggle and a cheesy smile. "Were your parents beavers?? Because daaaaaamn girl." wordstagged

Emberly couldn’t believe her luck, the kind old man who regularly visited the bar she’d worked at was as generous in death as he was in life. She never hesitated to talk to him about all the war stories that rolled off his tongue like he was reliving every second. When he died, sadly to cancer, he left her a small sum of cash to send her on a trip she’d wanted for a very long time. Emberly fondly remembered the small card attached, ‘Get lost and live’. It was a kind gesture, one that she planned to embark on with every happy ounce of her soul. It wasn’t long after his funeral which she absolutely refused to miss that she bought a plane ticket to Hawaii. There were no words to describe her excitement, she wanted to experience the culture in its entirety. A sense of nervousness grasped at her mind but she paid it little attention, it was simply the anxiety of embarking on something entirely new to her.
She’d been in Hawaii for two days by the time she found herself on the beach, a flowing white dress hugged her curves as she dug her bare feet into the soft caress of the sand of the beach. Her long curls hung comfortably over her shoulders as a cool breeze shifted a few stray strands of auburn hair into her gaze. She didn’t mind it much, a quick tuck of hair behind her ear left her sight open to the beauty of the world in front of her. Emberly was lost in her own world, a beautiful flower crown donning bright orange and soft pink flowers atop her head. She’d gotten it as a kind gesture from an old woman in a local market place and it fit her like a masterpiece.
Emberly was a sight of true and utter selfless happiness, she could wander the unfamiliar streets for an eternity and still see the perfection in every crack and crevice. She smiled softly at the waves lapping onto the soft sand by her toes before pressing a hand to her chest with a sad glance to the small fluffs of cloud rolling overhead. “Thanks Roger”, a final goodbye to a friend who offered her a uniquely perfect chance to embark on a lifelong dream.
Emberly turned to the new voice, it drew her curiosity until words fully materialized past his lips. He was an extremely handsome man and she could hardly deny that. Everything from the chiselled charm of his face to the toned perfection of his figure would drive any woman crazy. Not Emberly though. She was the type of person who saw the soul instead of the vessel. She was a seeker of truth and purpose and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind.
She found herself almost teasingly lean forward, towards the goofy ridiculousness of his words and the cheesy edge to his grin. “I bet this is the part where most women swoon”, Emberly tucked a rebellious strand of hair behind her ear and folded her arms comfortably over her chest with a small, delicate smirk. “Sorry handsome, you’re barking up the wrong tree. I’m not interested”, she chuckled softly with a small wave of her palm before stepping away from the stranger. He was curious, obviously arrogant but there was a charming edge to him. Emberly simply didn’t want to waste her time in a conversation that would inevitably end up in rejection and broken pride.
Emberly started following the beach, the sun was slowly setting over the horizon in a beautiful intimacy of bright orangue hues blending into a fiery red as it gave way to a dark navy sky. Night was coming and she was more than curious to watch the stars light up the sky. The beach was mostly empty as she dug her toes into the breaking waves and felt the cool caress off their escape back to the ocean. Nevertheless, she wasn’t an idiot and she could hear the soft thuds of feet sinking into sand. Feet other than her own. For a second she wondered if it was the same handsome stranger with a relentless ideal to try his luck again but she didn’t turn to look. She supposed it wouldn’t be too long when she found out if her suspicions were correct or not.

Ro Roy Walker
What the hell?
What the hell? How could this be? Could it be that she is possibly immune to my handsome good looks and irresistible charms? Naaaaah...That cant be it. Maybe my breath is bad or something. Roy's ego wouldn't allow that. It didn't compute. No way was that the reason. He reached his hand up in front of his mouth and breathed into it. Checking for freshness. Hm... Could use a refresher. Roy did not reach into his pockets. He did not have them already, he just suddenly had a box of tick taks in his hand.
Popping the lid open he knocked a few out into the palm of his hand and tossed them back. Chewing on them as he watched her walk away Roy decided he needed to up his game. Flowers. Yeah, chicks love flowers. Suddnely there was a bouquet of flowers in his hand. The sudden appaearance of the gorgeous bundle of flowers was accompanied by a light static swimming through his hand. A sort of distortion effect that rippled and waved the reality around his knuckles. She's gotta love these! "Love of my life! Wait come back!" He called after her.
She was already too far ahead to hear him though. Roy doubted very much that she would be here all by her lonesome. A woman like that? Hell, she probably had as many boyfriends as he had girlfriends. He looked like the type of woman who went around breaking hearts wherever she went. Weather she meant to or not. You couldn't cancel out that kind of attraction. Running through the sand Roy finally caught up with her. "Damn girl. You work out? You walk fast." Roy said doubling over on his knees. Why the hell was he out of breath? He was in fantastic shape, but chasing a daydream on the beach, trudging through the sand gave your calves a workout.
"Uh....These are for you. I was only able to convince them to bloom by saying that they would get to see your smile." He smiled a cheesy smile. Even Roy knew how bad that line was. It was subtle and if you weren't looking for it, you might have missed it; but Roy began to flicker. Like a burst static image on a computer screen loosing signal. Roy was here alright. In the flesh, but the sudden twinge of his abilities..... Roy was digital form. Personified. He could collapse into soundwaves and gigabytes of raw electric data. Move over wifi hotspots and wireless logins and find his way to the internet. The information super highway. Yes, even out in the middle of the beach he had some access to it. Smart phones, smart watches and tablets made it so fucking easy. The more technology grew; the more powerful his abilities seemed to become.
Roy was standing there smiling at the beautiful mysterious girl. It was only for a second. A blink of an eye in the grand scheme of reality, but he was sending information across waves of wifi and using Emberly's phone to do it. Her wireless hotspot gave him acess and he existed on the internet as a spec of inconsequential data. He was but a nat compared to all the millions upon millons of terrabytes of data that existed there. Roy was on the beach and yet Roy was elsewhere. Traveling at unspeakable speeds through the information superhighway browsing websites and such....Ah ha! he thought.
His arm slid behind his back in a dramatic and subtle way all at once. Walmart.com had teddy bears and chocolates. They even had a teddy bear holding a box of chocolates. Download! Roy blinked his eyes and the download began. Digitizing right into his hand within only a few seconds. Byte by byte data sent from the internet in a nonlinear metaphysical place traveled over her wifi strength right into the palm of his hand. It glowed blue and looked like pixelated distorted garbles of code until the download finished a few seconds later. Pulling his hand out from behind his back it was the same teddy bear holding a box of chocolates in his hand. Roy didn't exactly reveal to her that he was a mutant.
The subterfuge took place behind his back away from her innocent sexy eyes. "I got you something else too!" Roy said handing her the bear. Before he disconnected from her wifi he took advantage of this connection and downloaded her phone number into his memory. Gotcha! He thought. This baby's in the bag. Roy cockily laid down beside her where she laid on the beach. The cool ocean waves crashing in quiet harmony as the cocky bastard didn't even ask permission. He just assumed he was welcome despite her body language. "So what are we doing after this? Want to get something to eat? I know a great little sushi place."
Again here he was arrogantly making plans for them before even knowing her name. He was beyond names. He was past that. A name was just something you called out in the thralls of passion. He probably wouldn't remember her name anyways. That was the old Roy thinking. Little did he know she was going to change his life forever. The houndog roy who would bed any beauty who would dare step foot in his dirty apartment would never be the same after he got to know this vixen with the flowing ebony hair and the woven flowers into her precious halo. "By the way how do you like your eggs in the morning? I make a mean scrambled egg." He said smiling at her thinking his empty gifts and persistence had won her over.

She found herself laughing as he caught up, an honest yet charming chuckle of a girl who knew when trouble was knocking. Roy spoke volumes of trouble, she could see it in the cocky glint of his gaze. There was no doubt in her mind that a wink from him could draw in most women but she wasn’t interested. Perhaps if he wasn’t so transparently used to getting what he wanted she would have wanted to give him a shot but she had a gnawing suspicion that he was the kind of man who charmed a dozen women and left them all with shattered hearts and hopeless dreams of a charming man who didn’t want to commit. Emberly had seen a lot of men who were similar, there was something uniquely charming about the way he approached her.
A grin lit up on her lips, somewhat confused all the same at the sight of flowers with no others in sight. She was sure his hands were empty when he got rejected the first time but somehow he managed to dig up a beautiful bundle of flowers. “You’re persistent, I’ll give you that”, she reached forward and plucked a single flower from the bundle before tucking it behind her ear amidst the dark curls slowly inching over her shoulder in the caress of a soft breeze. She found herself grasping the bundle of flowers with a curious glance to an old couple passing by, she stepped towards the old man first with a soft smile upon her lips. Emberly held the flowers to him as his wife excitedly pointed to a parrot flying overhead, “a surprise for your beautiful wife”. He instantly insisted he wouldn’t be able to take them but she happily pushed them to his chest before turning back to the conversation with Roy. A charming conversation that truly left her mind somewhat baffled. She’d never met a man like him, someone so cocky and arrogant yet charming and intriguing.
She watched him closely, never once able to ignore the shimmer of stars growing on the horizon behind him and the soft melody of crashing waves. It was paradise with a unique bump in a road she hadn’t foreseen. Her eyes grew wide at the sight of another reveal, a cute gift that truly left a small smile on her lips. Emberly wasn’t sure how he’d done it or if he was dedicated enough to do it for all the beautiful girls she was certain he’d charmed. Nevertheless, she held the soft bear to her chest, “Thank you?”, it was more a statement than a question but she was caught of guard. The whole encounter was bizarrely charming in it’s own way but she’d never been in any situation even remotely similar.
“I’m curious how you managed it”, she gestured down to the gift with a curious glance, “but I have a feeling you won’t confess”. There were no strange suspicions in her mind, simply pure and honest curiosity. Emberly found the horizon’s beauty so captivating that she simply sunk down into the sand, not a care in the world of how dirty her white dress might get. Sand pushed up between her toes and she wondered in all honesty if he would even persist beyond his tireless efforts.
A soft laugh slipped through her lips at his cocky assumption that she’d be spending more time than a brief introduction on a beautiful beach with him. “You’re welcome to do whatever floats your boat princess but I’m just gonna watch the stars”, Emberly felt the blunt sarcasm roll over her in a fierce wave. She was a sweet girl with pure and honest intentions but un uncanny ability to offer up the truth in a brutal harshness when the moment called for it. She had to give him some imaginative points for continued efforts and bold assumptions.
Emberly found herself turning to look at him with her slender figure resting on the soft sand, crowned halo nearly toppling off her natural curls and eyes filled with wonder. “I bet you’re used to an impressive success rate with women.”, she was curious what lay deeper underneath the layers of charm and arrogance but Emberly wasn’t sure she wanted to risk the efforts it would take to find out. “Unfortunately, you’re gonna have to get used to some disappointment if you think it’s this easy to win me over”, there was a victorious smirk atop her lips slightly coated in a rebellious mischief and confidence.

Ro Roy Walker
What the hell?
Roy couldn't believe it. That was twice now she reacted in a way that was totally against the way things were supposed to go. Roy had never experienced rejection before. It was a strange and foreign concept to him. The smile faded for a moment but it came back strong after he shook his head like that can't possibly be so. "A magician never reveals his secrets." He joked. Attributing the whole thing to magic was an easy scape goat.
It was more than that. Roy was quite powerful, in an impractical sort of way. His abilities allowed him to do so much. He could answer literally any question, pulling the answer straight down from the internet he had the world of information at his fingertips. Roy could create hologram clones of anyone, anyone he could find online that was... He could pull your facebook photo from three years ago and make a perfect hologram image of you that walked and talked. The voice might not be spot up, he'd have to use his imagination for that, but still. The things that Roy could do were simply impressive.
Of course he had a high success rate with women. It wasn't fun playing the game when the game was always rigged in your favor, but this one.... She was a challenge. Roy saw fun and excitement in the challeng so he decided to double down instead of calling it a lost cause. "Oh, we're looking at the stars huh? Okay cool." He said settling down right beside her and throwing his arms behind his head to star gaze.
Roy wasn't offended that she gave away her flowers. At least she kept the teddy bear. Perhaps she just wasn't a fan of roses. Next time he would try Casablanca lilies on her. Roy sighed deeply and gazed up at the stars. It only took him half a minute to become bored with it. Rolling over on his side he propped his head up on his hand and stared at her with those blue eyes of his that were powdery and sweet and oh so used to getting what they wanted.
"What's your name? Or should I keep calling you perfection? Oh.... I've been calling you perfection in my mind. Hope that's okay." He said smiling. "I'm Roy. Roy Walker. I teach surfing here on the islands. Are you a local?" He asked curiously. There was a big difference between trying to bed a local and someone just on vacation. If she was a vacation gal and things went south she would eventually leave. On the other hand. Local girls were crazy. And a lot of them already knew Roy by reputation. Roy worked for the big hotel and resort on the island. The Tiki Leaki. He was part of their adventures program he was technically a hotel employee but he got to sit out on the waves for a living how cool was that?!?
"I bet you're on vacation. Not tan enough to be a local." There was absolutely nothing wrong with her tan to be honest, but Roy was Roy and he thought he knew everything. Overestimating his powers of observation, Roy continued to stare at her only he allowed his to wander down her dress to the smooth softness of her legs. He placed a hand on her hip, and pulled her body a little closer. Roy leaned in closing his eyes going for a kiss he most definitely did not earn. The moment felt right to him, but what did he know he was a cocky idiot who didn't know as much about women as the thought.

Emberly was only half surprised that he’d join her in the calm serenity of stargazing. In all honesty, she thought the continued rejection of his charming attempts would drive him to someone who would happily fall for the allure of his words and handsome features. Nevertheless, she didn’t halt in her awe of the coming night’s sky. The stars peeking into existence while she watched the striking glitter of a galaxy in front of her eyes was one of the more beautiful sights she’d been blessed to witness. The teddy bear rested comfortably by her side, she saw a small crab view the stuffed animal a quick second before darting away towards the rocky outcrops to her right, far enough that she wasn’t all too tempted to walk there in the dark of night.
“Emberly, just Emberly”, she smiled softly at the reveal of her name. there was no real benefit of admitting her full identity, he probably didn’t care either way. She didn’t pay him much mind besides a curious peek out of her peripheral, her fingers drew unseen symbols into the sand as time ticked by awe strikingly slow. Seconds felt like an eternity of beauty that drew her in with a single gaze. Emberly was all for adventure, every drop of her being yearned to see something new and she finally had the opportunity.
His name echoed in her mind like a bittersweet melody. The name of a man who was charismatic and insanely handsome but a man who wanted nothing more but physical intimacy. She wasn’t that kind of woman, she never was. It was one of the more prominent reasons why she could deal a good punch. Men tried their luck and men failed, she only ever liked one person and he turned out to be like all the rest. Her lips curled into a small grin however, she was curious about surfing simply because she’d never done anything alike before. Still, she’d probably write it off as a missed opportunity, there was no use setting the guy up for another rejection by asking him to teach her.
“Do I look like a local?”, she didn’t mean for it to sound quite as sarcastic as it came forth but she covered up the slight sassy tone with a charming smile at Roy. He was quite on point, she thought he’d attribute her unfamiliarity with the world around them to pure wonder and joy for simple things that locals grew accustomed to. He was smart enough to notice the light porcelain of her skin though and she wondered how smart he was underneath all the charming flirts, perhaps more than she gave him credit for.
“Smart”, a short comment coated in honesty, she was impressed with his observation. She turned to gaze at him, curiously trying to see more of the man underneath the layers and layers of charisma and pride. Emberly thought she saw the flicker of something honest until she felt the warmth of his hand on her hip and the yearning closeness of a coming kiss. Her lips were agape, not in preparation for a kiss but in frank shock that he’d dare try his luck when she was opposed to his advances.
Emberly knew he couldn’t see it coming, his eyes was closed after all. Her arm drew back and she harshly shoved her fist into his fist before standing to her feet and putting enough distance between them. The teddy bear in her hands flew to his chest as she cursed lightly under her breath. “You should try putting your dick back in your pants every once in a while”, she glowered at him before deeming his persistent charms unfitting for her peace of mind and began an angry walk back to the hotel. Emberly had half a mind to turn back and shove him into the ocean but thought against it, took a deep breath and attempted to leave the awful encounter behind her as nothing more but an uncomfortable memory underneath a canopy of awe striking galaxy lights.

Ro Roy Walker
Roy stood up and watched her leave. She headed back to her hotel. She was heading to the Tikki Leaki. It was the hotel he worked at. Well, that's a little uncomfortable. He was pretty sure running into her again would be bad. His first impression had left a sour taste in her mouth and he just didn't get it. He was so smooth. Shaking his head Roy walked in the other direction. Going back to his apartment he would meet back up with his room mate Todd.
Walking in the door a good half hour later Roy dropped his keys in the bowl by the door. Hesighed and walked defeatedly over to the fridge to look for something to eat to take his mind off his failures. "Sup bruh? Why the long face." Roy turned to the chipper vibes of his stoner room mate. "I struck out with this tourist babe." Todd looked at him as if he wasn't sure how to respond. "And you gave up?" He asked him surprised. "Yeah, she didn't want anything to do with me." He admitted with shame.
"Bruuuuh.... Who was it who stole that dude's wife and had a weekend of passionless sex and then left her smiling holding a fake phone number?" Todd asked. Roy looked stunned. "Uh....Me." He admitted a little surprised and appaled by the vague memory. "And who was it who nailed that soccer mom on vacation who left her kids with strangers to get a little afternoon delight?" Roy sighed. "Me again...."
He was embarrassed actually by these revelations. Roy supposed he used to be pretty immature back in the day. He had grown a little since then. He was a total asshole in his younger days. Not that he was old by any stretch of the imagination. "The Roy I know doesn't give up. The Roy I know isn't a quitter. Dude you have to get her to go out with you. If a guy like you can't hook up with a beautiful babe....What chance does a guy like me have?" Todd asked as he picked his nose. Mustard stains smeared on his grey shirt. He looked at Roy with hope and admiration. "Do it for the little guys like me Roy. Let me live through your experiences. Dude it's all i got."
Roy thought about it for a moment and then a smile cracked across his face. "Okay. I'll give it one more shot. But if she turns me down again, you might need a new role model." Roy said with a laugh. "Yeah right." Todd replied. Roy grabbed his jacket and headed back to the Tikki Leaki. He didn't have to work hard to find out what Room she was in. Emberly was a pretty unique name. The girl at the front desk was pretty and Roy bat his eyes at her and leaned on the counter. When she refused to give him the room number he flirted with her a bit and placed his hand on the computer with her distracted. Bits of information surged through his fingertips until he found the room number.
There was only one Emberly staying at the hotel. It had to be her. "Thanks anyways dollface." He said strolling out of the lobby to the bar. Finding a nice, quiet booth at the bar Roy zoned out and sent his consciousness over wifi and through the air and straight to the television in Emberly's room. Room number 204. On her television the show was on commercial break. The commercial was one of those sell you something kind of commercials. The ones with the CALL NOW! flashing on the screen you sometimes see late nights. It was late, yeah. The guy on the commercial though.... Was Roy. He was laying shirtless in a nothing but a pair of briefs on a soft bed looking all kinds of innocent.
The narrator for the commerical sung his praises in one of those deep voices you sometimes hear on movie trailers. "Can't sleep?" The voice narrated. "Maybe it's because you don't have Roy in your bed. Roy in your bed is the perfect solution for those lonely nights. He is the perfect male companion for all your lonely night needs! You can have Roy in your bed for only 4 easy payments of $19.99! CALL NOW!" The commercial demanded. At the bottom was a phone number to call if you were interested. It just so happened to be Roy's phone number.
When the channel inevitably changed there was a late night soap opera on. The characters on the screen were surprisingly Emberly and Roy. Roy created a digital hologram of himself and Emberly to super impose over the actual actors. He messed with the signal and changed the dialouge to fit his needs in thsi moment. "So what Roy? You're just going to give up?!? Walk away? Are you really that much of a chicken shit?" Emberly said. Roy turned his back on her dramatically. "I can't help it baby. Sometimes a man's gotta do what a man does...." His line was cheesy and dripping in Drama. "But Roy i love you!" Roy spun around. "I know. I love you too, but something in his crazy world is keeping us apart. Maybe it's our egos. Maybe we forgot how to let ourselves love....."
Roy turned and left the room in the soap opera as Emberly frantically pulled out her phone to call him. The camera zoomed in on the contact in her phone. It said Roy Love of My LIfe... and then his phone number. Roy was trying to send heavy, heavy signals for Emberly to pick up the phone and call him. When the channel changed again it was professional wrestling. Some very egotistical entrance music played and Roy came out on the entrance ramp stage with a microphone to talk trash to his opponent.
Roy looked directly at the muslcy man in the ring. "Big Nasty! When i defeat you this sunday at the Rage in the cage pay per view.... I'll prove that I'm man enough for Emberly. I'm going to take your title. And then I'mg going to take your woman!" Roy declared. Winking at the camera. The ringside commentators were talking as Roy dropped the microphone and started to dance and gyrate on stage. "Looks like Mr. Macho Sexy isn't kidding around. Mr. Macho Sexy said he's going to take Big Nasty's woman!" One of the commentators said. "Not only that, but he's shaking them hips! Look at him go! I think he's a serious contender!" Then they started informing the audience how they could purchase the pay per view. "To order this now and see Mr. Macho Sexy steal Big Nasty's girl Emberly... CALL NOW! It said flashing at the bottom of the screen. Again with Roy's personal cell phone number blinking for Emberly to dial.

Emberly huffed annoyed as she stepped out of the elevator, it was supposed to be such a calm night under the watchful eye of the galaxy’s lights and instead it was cut short by the unwanted persistence of a man she hardly knew. She had half a mind to break his nose if he ever tried to approach her again. Inside her room she gently took the halo of flowers from her head and set it down on a beautiful table in the corner before making her way to the balcony overlooking the beauty of the beach. She took the flower from his gifted bouquet and tossed it over the railing with a wrathful shove of her palm. The breeze was a welcome touch to her skin for a few long seconds before she made her way back inside.
Emberly was halfway through tying her hair into a braid in sight of the tall mirror hung up against the wall when she spotted the television screen behind her. She was confused at first and truly astonished in an irritated sort of way as the commercial progressed. Roy, barely dressed in anything just sprawled out on a bed. For a second she wondered if he partook in some truly odd commercials. While she could honestly compliment his physique, she had a hard time fighting the urge of tossing the whole TV over the railing and into the enormous pool downstairs. Her arms folded over her chest as she lowered herself onto the edge of her bed to see how the ridiculousness would play out.
She found herself earnestly laughing at the idea of having Roy in her bed and found herself speaking loudly, almost wishing he could hear her. “Not a fucking chance”, she glared at the TV before switching the channel in the hopes that it was a bizarre coincidence and he simply acted every once in a while. The idea of him being a mutant wasn’t a thought in any way at that moment. When she truly saw the soap opera play out she had a gnawing suspicion that there was more to him than meets the eye. He was a dick but he was also apparently very capable of meddling in her life even when she left him rejected at the beach.
The whole scene was baffling, annoying and downright awkward. There was no way in hell she’d ever consider him as anything more than a pretentious dick she met on what was supposed to be the first step in her everlasting freedom. She shook her head at the screen, if he wanted her to call him that badly she’d crush her damn phone before she even dared hear his voice again. Still, annoyance was a powerful tool and she didn’t know how long she could wait until she picked up the phone if only to tell him what a jackass he was.
“Go screw yourself”, she lifted the remote into her palm one more time before changing the channel and tossing the remote into the corner when his egotistical image appeared third time. She dropped her face into her palms with an annoyed sigh. Emberly only had that much patience and in pure irritation she found herself dialling the number on the screen. She couldn’t stay still as it rung and stood up to pace on the balcony where the TV couldn’t ruin the rest of her night at hand.
“Listen up you egostistical dick. I don’t care who or how the hell you’re doing this, just stay the hell away from me”, she angrily told him the moment he picked up the phone. Emberly didn’t wait much longer than that, she tossed the phone on her bed with an angry sigh, grabbed her jacket and left the room hoping that some fresh air would help clear her mind. Somewhere he couldn’t annoyingly wiggle his dumbass into her life. Emberly was honestly one of the nicest people you could meet but she had a short temper and he had an uncanny ability to piss her off. She wanted to see the beach again, perhaps a stroll through the empty streets but thought she’d rather spend her time not getting lost in a foreign place when everyone she’d ask for directions were either soundly asleep or busy with their own lives. Instead, she found herself comfortably sliding into a stool at the lovely hotel bar.
The bartender was a handsome young man who offered a charming smile as he requested her drink, Emberly smiled kindly before leaning forward to glance at the options stacked on modern shelves behind the man. “You know what,” she told him finding herself almost indecisive, “just give me a beer”. A simple choice and a drink she’d grown accustomed to working the bar back home. When she held out the money he rejected the idea and insisted it was on him instead. She sat comfortably with the cold bottle tucked between her fingers unknowing that she accidentally put herself closer to Roy than she truly preferred.

Ro Roy Walker
Roy was an asshole. He knew it the moment he heard his room mate gushing over how much he looked up to him for his immature behavior. He wasn't that guy anymore. Okay, so maybe he was a little that guy, but this time was different. This wasn't about a sexual conquest this was about meeting a beautiful girl and not being able to resist introducing himself. He thought she would fall head over heels for his charms, but maybe she just saw the asshole that he finally saw in himself.
He set the phone down slowly and pushed it across the table. Roy was just upset now. He wasn't angry, nor was he foolish enough to try for her again. He just knew that it wasn't meant to be and he honestly felt bad for probably ruining her night. "Damn I suck hard bro...." He said aloud. He was in a shady booth towards the back of the bar. His epiphany of self realization might have been touching if he wasn't using surfer bro language to describe his suckitude.
Roy looked up when a waitress came over to take his order. She was very pretty and looked like an actress. The type of glitz and glamour you expect to be discovered and whisked away to a life of movies and superstardom. Roy barely noticed her. When usually the old Roy would have been laying down smooth lines and trying to imagine what color panties she might be wearing. Instead he just looked at his phone and the last number that called him on it.... It really stung, his pride and his ego. Most of all it stung his self worth.
"Can i get you a drink handsome?" She asked with a chipper smile. She leaned over showing him a bit of clevage, but Roy turned away from it. "Yeah, do you have something gaurenteed to cause a hangover?" He asked. He felt like he needed to suffer just a bit to atone. And he wanted to drink this night into oblivion and forget about it. He was embarrassed more than anything. "Sure thing honey. I got just the thing." She said and walked away to get it.
Roy slouched in his seat and just stared at his phone. He didn't even notice Emberly across the way. He was thinking about texting her he was sorry, but that was only going to make him feel better. It wasn't going to make her night any better and he had already screwed it up enough. "Welcome to Hawaii." He said sarcastically. "Where the guys are jerks and the tourists are thrown to the wolves." He muttered picking up the drink as the waitress placed it down and threw it back with one gulp. She could see he was feeling sorry for himself and decided the handsome stranger was more trouble than he was worth and just walked away.

Emberly felt guilty for her fit of anger, she wanted to apologize in more convincing words until the waitress interrupted the train of thoughts darting through her mind. She rolled her eyes at the rude question and found herself oddly surprised at Roy’s reaction. It was in all honesty, the last thing she expected.
“No problem, I don’t hold grudges”, the words were a subtle recognition of the waitress and her quick apology but carried depth for Roy. She forgave him hopeful that he would forgive her too. There was a superficial arrogance to him but she was almost certain that there was more to him than that. Emberly was intrigued, more so than ever, to see the man underneath. The words that left his mouth next drew her into a shocked silence, she wasn’t sure how to react. For a few long moments, she occupied the booth alone with only her thoughts to keep her company. She considered leaving it be but she felt guilty and awful for being so angry at someone who’d tried to get to know her even if she didn’t agree with the unique methods he’d used.
Emberly stepped outside with a soft sigh and glanced at the silhouette of a man by the beach. Unsure if it was truly him, she took an impulsive chance and closed the space with a comfortable pace among underneath the starry night. The sound of crashing waves washed her with a surreal calmness that was hard to explain. Emberly always was the kind of person to notice the small things. She saw strength instead of flaw and potential instead of chaos. Emberly’s heart was as pure as it got with the gift of a short temper from her old man. It was her biggest flaw and she was quite honestly working hard not to let it show. That particular day had simply been a rollercoaster that left her unsure and uncertain and yet she was grinning as she stepped up to Roy with her fingers softly grazing his shoulder in an effort to draw his attention.
“Would you stop sulking?”, she asked him honestly feeling the waves roll over her bare toes and leave a blissful cool touch to her skin. “We both fucked up, okay? You might be a dick but I’m halfway sure that’s not all you are. And I might have overreacted but in my defence, the commercials were definitely the strangest introduction I’ve ever had to someone”, she held her slender palm out for his to shake with a delightful smile and an honest edge to her gaze.
“Walk with me?”, she asked him with a playful tone to her voice before backing away from him and following the shoreline as the world around them only grew more beautiful every moment. The galaxy decorated the sky above her in awe striking stars as the full moon lit up the world in a surreal silver hue. Roy was special, she knew that by simple observation but she wasn’t fearful of what he could do. Emberly was somewhat curious to see what lay beneath all the surface and truly surprised at her change of heart. Still, she couldn’t force Roy to let go of the broody state of mind he was in, she simply hoped he would take her up on his offer.

Ro Roy Walker
Roy sat there quietly listening. At the risk of looking like an ass he slid his phone closer too him as she spoke and messed with it, barely meeting her gaze. In all honesty he was sort of embarrassed by his relentless pursuit. Some women might've found it flattering that he would go through so much effort just to get to know them, but she had seen past that. She had seen how shallow and murky his intentions really were and yes, he was just trying to get her into bed.
Roy didn't have any solid examples of how to act truthfully. He grew up in an orphaenge. His best friend? Stuntman Johnny Rome. The king of Detroit so he heard. Johnny had become a big deal down there, but Roy looked up to him. Johnny was a little older, not by much but Roy had always seen him as a big brother coming up in the orphanage with him. He was what Roy aspired to be. Cool with the ladies and taking anything he wanted. Johnny took Detroit. Roy couldn't even take a hint. He felt like an asshole.
Worse than that he felt like a stalkery asshole. With a few taps on his phone her number was erased from his contacts. He was touching his phone which meant there was a slight distortion effect to the screen that only he could see through. It was an odd quirk of his abilities, but it didn't really bother him so much. Sometimes when he touched electronics they seemed to act 'screwy'. "Hey, you shouldn't be the one apologizing. I was a dick. I should have a condom on my head i'm such a dick." He insisted.
The waitress came over again, but her smile was gone seeing the beautiful Emberly there now. "What do you want?" She asked Emberly rudely. Roy was shocked. More than that he was appalled by the sudden tonal shift. "How about an apology and some customer service?" Roy said bluntly. There was a serious look on his face. A cold stare that almost seemed a little dark and dangerous as he didn't blink. Only forced the waitresses attitude into submission with a glare. "I...I'm sorry." She mumbled . "She'll have a beer."
Roy said confidently. He watched the waitress scamper off before picking up the beer she gave him and taking a sip. "You bought me one. I bought you one. We're square." Roy said simply. He didn't like to tuck and run with his tail between his legs, but..... He felt like he had expanded all his options. There was no way that start fresh would go smoothly. He had seen enough romantic comedy's to know that any couple that used the phrase start fresh in the movie had no real on screen chemistry to begin with. They were just two beautiful people thrown together for the sake of being beautiful.
Roy was really trying to distance himself from his superficial judgmental persona. He had taken a hard look at his choices and his persuasions and decided that he was an asshole who didn't deserve half of the attention the ladies gave him. Roy pulled out a $20 bill and placed it on the table as he stood up. "It was really nice to meet you Emberly and I'm sorry if i over stepped. I just wanted a chance to get to know you. It's not everyday that I get to talk to someone. Women tend to fall all over me, and for once there was one that didn't. It's what made me interested in the first place. Anyways, not your problem. Enjoy Hawaii, Mahoulo (Goodbye in Hawaiian)"
Roy sighed and left her there in the booth. The taste dancing on the tip of his tongue might've been sour and soaked in regret, but at least he felt good about making amends. If he had apologized to every woman he ever offended he would be on a lifelong journey of getting doors slammed in his face. At least he had apologized to this one. Stepping out into the lobby he walked through the automatic front doors into the cold night air. He didn't feel much like going home so he decided to take a walk on the beach along the waves. The last then he expected was for Emberly to follow him.
